Human Rights Watch investigates and reports on abuses happening in all corners of the world. HRW directs their advocacy towards governments, armed groups and businesses, pushing them to change or enforce their laws, policies and practices. They partner with organizations large and small across the globe to protect embattled activists and to help hold abusers to account and bring justice to victims. Although they look at many different sectors they do cover the broad system of the global garment supply chain. One example is from 2015 when HRW reported the Uzbekistan government was forcing millions of citizens into slavery to pick cotton which was their attempt to increase their GDP. To read more about this case read the post Slavery and Cotton in the conversation corner.
