BRAC, an international development organisation based in Bangladesh, is the largest non-governmental development organisation in the world, in terms of number of employees as of September 2016. Established in 1972 after the independence of Bangladesh, BRAC is present in all 64 districts of Bangladesh as well as 13 other countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. BRAC has focused attention in Bangladesh since the Rana Plaza disaster six years ago. Bangladesh economy relies on the fashion industry, with 80% of all international money coming in for this sector. BRAC understands the importance of keeping business where it is but also recognizes human rights must not be violated in the attempt to make investors wealthier.
